Defiance City Schools earns ‘Effective’ grade on state report card | News
DEFIANCE, OH (Toledo News Now) – Defiance City Schools earned a grade of “Effective” on the Ohio Department of Education report card for the 2011-2012 school year. Effective is the third highest of 6 possible grades.
The district met 23 of the 26 "State Indicators." In order to meet all state indicators a district must have at least 75 percent of third through eight and tenth graders proficient at various subjects, have at least 85 percent of 11th graders pass the Ohio Graduation Test, have a district wide attendance rate of at least 93 percent and graduate at least 90 percent of students. Defiance City Schools fell short of 75 percent in 5th and 6th grade math and 7th grade reading.
The district did not meet the state’s “Adequate Yearly Progress” standard and earned a “Performance Index” score of 97.6 of a possible 120.
